UC San Diego men’s basketball coach Clint Allard ’08 has announced his coaching staff for the 2025-26 season. Skye Ettin, Rich Shayewitz, Daniel Eberhardt, and Denzel Brito have joined the Triton staff which includes Allard and third year assistant Steven Aldridge.
“I’m thrilled about the exceptional coaching staff we’ve brought together,” Allard said. “Each member brings relevant, diverse experience and a deep commitment to delivering an outstanding experience for our scholar-athletes – both on and off the court.”
STEVEN ALDRIDGE
A San Diego area native, Steven Aldridge recently completed his second season as an assistant coach at UC San Diego after coaching the prior two seasons on the staff at North Dakota in Grand Forks. Before joining the Fighting Hawks’ staff, Aldridge spent the previous two seasons at Eastern Washington as a graduate assistant.
Aldridge spent three seasons at Western Colorado University before heading to EWU, also guiding the Mountaineers to new heights. As an assistant coach, he helped Western return to the RMAC Tournament for the first time since Aldridge played for the Mountaineers in 2012, where he led the team in assists and was a team captain during his two years as a player.
SKYE ETTIN
Skye Ettin is in first season with the Tritons after serving as an assistant coach at fellow Big West member UC Santa Barbara for the last two seasons. In 2024-25, Ettin and the Gauchos won 21 games.
Prior to his time at UCSB, Ettin spent six seasons on the bench at Princeton. During his stint with the Tigers, Ettin was a part of a program that earned an overall record of 133-69 to go with a 82-29 record in The Ivy League. Ettin helped Princeton reach the Sweet 16 in 2023 after winning The Ivy League Tournament and Regular Season Championships. His scouting efforts led Princeton to a 58-55 win against No. 2 Arizona as the Tigers became the 11th No. 15 seed to beat a No. 2 seed in the Round of 64 while becoming just the fourth No. 15-seed in NCAA March Madness history to reach the Sweet 16.
In 2017, Ettin was named an National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 30 under 30 honoree. The list is a compilation of coaching staff members under the age of 30 from across all NCAA divisions. This award recognizes the top young college basketball coaches in the country each year.
Ettin, who was elected to be part of the 2022 USA Maccabiah staff as an assistant on the team with Coach Doug Gottlieb who won gold in the 2022 Maccabiah World Games.
RICH SHAYEWITZ
Rich Shayewitz joins the UC San Diego coaching staff in 2025-26 after spending the last four seasons as the head coach at Division II Sonoma State. In 2024-25, the Seawolves posted a 12-16 mark in the program’s final season. In 2022-23, Shayewitz coached sophomore phenom Jaylen Wells, the CCAA Player of the Year.
In 2020, Rich Shayewitz was appointed interim Director of Basketball making him the head coach for both the men and the women’s programs at Sonoma State. With no athletic competition during the 2020-21 academic year, Shayewitz led both programs during the 2021-22 season and took on his first season at the helm of the men’s program and his fifth and final year with the women’s program.
DANIEL EBERHARDT
Daniel Eberhardt has experience in college basketball at multiple levels in a variety of roles.
In 2024-25, Eberhardt was a member of the staff at Loyola Marymount, helping to lead LMU to two separate win streaks of five games apiece. The Lions closed out non-conference play with five wins in a row and then, for the first time since 1991, won five consecutive games in conference play. Before joining the Lions, Eberhardt served as an assistant coach in 2023-24 at Pepperdine. Prior to his season with the Waves, Eberhardt was an assistant coach with the Cal Poly women’s basketball program.
With head coaching experience at Division II Holy Names in Oakland, Calif., from 2020-22, Eberhardt is the second former head coach that Allard has hired this offseason, joining fellow new assistant coach Rich Shayewitz.
Prior to leading the Hawks, Eberhardt spent six years as an assistant at Cal State East Bay (2014-20) and two at his alma mater, Cal Maritime (2012-14).
DENZEL BRITO
Denzel Brito joined the UC San Diego coaching staff in June 2025 after spending last season as a graduate assistant at George Washington. Brito came to GW from Tabor Academy in Massachusetts, where he served as an assistant and player development coach.
The Onset, Mass., native was recruited as a two-sport athlete at Lawrence Academy where he was a part of the most wins in school history with 102 and is the third all-time leading scorer. Brito also held numerous Power 5 football offers. Brito signed to play at Loyola University Chicago before transferring to Loyola University Maryland where he led the team in assists and steals for three seasons while graduating with a degree in Communications.
Brito played professionally overseas for eight years in Germany, Spain, Ireland, Portugal and Australia.
